Colombo

Colombo is the administrative capital and the biggest city in Sri Lanka; the legislative capital is Sri Jayawardanepura (Kotte), 7 km distance from Colombo.

Colombo has no outstanding attractions to offer, but the colonial buildings in the fort and the busy trading quarter opposite the railway station, the pettah, are quite nice.

A shopping spree in Colombo is well worth it.

There are several shopping arcades, e.g. the Majestic City in the suburb Bambalapitiya, where you can buy everything from brand-name textiles to computer software at very reasonable prices.
